Acer Aspire One (A0751h)
The Acer Aspire One (A0751h) represents a breakthrough in netbooks of this price range thanks to its 11.6 inch widescreen with 1,366 7 768 pixel resolution and full size keyboard.
The addition of these features is a first for netbooks in this price range and makes using many standard programmes such as Excel, or browsing the Internet, a much more enjoyable and functional experience than on similar netbooks. To get such a good screen elsewhere is likely to cost you significantly more.
The size and dimensions of this netbook are also very good. It weighs just 3lbs and its size is a slender 10.3 x 7.3 x 1.1 inches.
The other great thing about this netbook is the battery life. You can expect to get about 7 hours use out of the Aspire One’s 6 cell battery in between charges, keeping you mobile for longer.
How you can get an Acer Aspire One Netbook
Like all netbooks the affordability has to create a compromise somewhere, and with the Aspire One (A0751h) this comes in the slightly slower Intel Atom processor – which is not the fastest in the world. Expect bootup times to be slightly slower than other netbooks in its class.
However at such as great price the benefit of the excellent widescreen make the slightly slower boot up time completely forgivable. This netbook represents excellent value.
Aspire 5739
Acer’s budget laptop is a surprisingly good looking and fast machine, which for the money gives performance way out its league.
It’s a real all rounder of a laptop, on light use with word processing, it manages a respectable four hours, while on full burn you will get a hour and a half.
The Blu-ray drive, Dolby sound and the 2GB Nvidia GeForce graphics card mean that the Aspire is great for movies and gaming. The 15.6 inch hi-def screen gives a great display which doesn’t reflect too much.
With 4Gb of RAM and 500Gb hard drive, with the 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo gives you a really nippy performance.
Why is the Aspire H739 so great ?
There’s good accessibility with 3 USBs, 1 USB/eSATA and an HDMI port.
It’s not the most stylish laptop on the market, but rounded blue lid and nicely set out keyboard give it a certain charm, and there is even an independent numeric key pad.
This may not sound like a big deal but if you do absolutely anything that requires you to use spreadsheets or databases, it’s so much easier than using the number strip along the top of the keyboard, as with many laptops.
Aspire G7200
The G7200 is bit of a star-cruiser; there’s something about that pop-up lid, and angular deep electric blue casing that reminds us of great sci-fi movies, and when it’s running red LEDs light up the face, which adds to the sci-fi feel.
It comes in four configurations Defender II is the starter package, then there is Ranger, Commander II and the top package is the Reaper II.
All of them use the AMD Phenom quad core processors, vital for the fastest and most complex games.
Even better the ATI OverDrive™ software allows you to easily overclock RAM, CPU and graphics to squeeze out even better performance.
There’s a liquid cooled core to ensure that performance is never compromised even with overclocked settings.
With up to 8Gb of RAM, 4Tb hard drive, top of the range ATI Radeon graphics cards and blu-ray on offer this is an amazingly powerful entertainment and gaming machine.
Get the best out of online entertainment
Gaming and movie viewing is even better with Dolby® Home Theater® Audio, which will give you cinema quality sound, if you’ve got the speakers to do it justice.
There’s great accessibility with an 18-in-1 memory card reader, 9 USB ports and future upgrades also won’t be a problem with two PCI, one PCIE and two 16xPCIE slots.

Acer first for Chrome OS notebook
JT Wang, chairman of Acer, is confident that his company will be the first PC manufacturer to release a Google Chrome based netbook.
With many industry experts predicting that the release will come in the second half of 2010, the move represents a big step away from the traditional and into a future based around cloud computing.
The Google Operating System will be much lighter than Microsoft Windows, relying on lighter and cheaper netbooks using the Internet to store documents and files.
Acer spearheads 3D TV
Acer has been getting ready for 3D Blu-ray format along with NVIDIA. A recent demo took place for the folks at Engadget and the results sound very exciting indeed.
The demo took place on an Acer LCD 120Hz NVIDIA 3D-ready 24” G245 and showed that 3D movies on Blu-ray are definitely going to become a reality in 2010.
According to reports, all the major software manufacturers, such as Arcsoft, Core, Cyberlink and Sonic, are preparing Blu-ray titles to begin shipping next year.
