A guide to installing AVG
Uninstall your old antivirus software
Before installing your AVG software you must make sure you remove any other anti virus programmes you may already have on there. You can so this by going to Start>Add or remove programmes> click remove.
It is also a good idea to make sure you have the latest Windows security updates installed; this will make your protection even stronger.
Then you must close all applications and restart your computer.
Download and Install AVG antivirus
Make sure you are using the latest version of the file from AVG’s website and click download. You will go through the paying process, then the wizard will check your PC for other security applications.
If no other security software is found, you will be asked to enter your unique license number which you shoukld have recieved upon payment. Copy and paste is the best way to ensure no mistakes are made with this.
If you have downloaded a new version of AVG software you will be asked if you want to run the Default or Custom installation. The Default installation is advisable to most users as with the Custom option you will be asked to perform detailed configurations.
Configure your AVG antivirus
AVG’s First run wizard will help you to get started with the basic settings and configuration, just simply follow the steps on screen.
If you have software which contains a firewall you will need to configure this; again just follow the instructions on screen
