A brief history of AVG
AVG Technologies, or Grisoft as it was then known, was founded in 1991, by a private owned Czech company held by Jan Gritzbach and Tomas Hofer.
In 2001 Grisoft acquired ewido Networks, a German anti-spyware manufacturer and its features were incorporated into AVG’s software.
In February 2008, Grisoft was officially renamed AVG Technologies in the hope that it would increase the effectiveness of their marketing activities.
