Today is the General Election, an event that has consumed the nation for the past few months. In celebration, Rosie Khdir has decided to host her own vote to find the nations favourite PC.

election laptops

Conservative candidate: Sony VAIO X Series

Much like Cameron, it is sleek, stylish and prim, right down to the optional leather carry case it comes with. As one of the largest computer manufacturers, Sony has quite a following and has been known for its past winners.

This laptop promises 8 hours of battery life, but in actually fact only delivers 6 hours of use, a potential promise breaker. Although it packs a lot of power, in true Tory fashion, this VAIO comes at a hefty price of £1,800. This purchase could leave you greatly out of pocket!

Liberal Democrats candidate: Apple’s iPad

The iPad is the new kid on the block, one that people have mixed perceptions about. It looks good, can put on a show and is a breath of fresh air into the PC market.

Its prospects, much like Clegg’s, appeal to many people; its multitouch capabilities seem faultless, it can store a lot of data, it looks sleek and is a reasonable price.

The problem – what exactly would its use be? It’s not quite a fully functional laptop and not as accessible and portable as an iPhone. It is not a serious piece of IT equipment and will mainly be used for entertainment.

Labour candidate: Lenovo ThinkCentre A Series

This type of desktop has been around a while. It serves well enough as a work or home PC, though is a little clunky. Truth be told, unless you are in a business that could benefit from a stationary tower, this model is a little behind the times – it could be time for a trade in.

It may be one of those PC’s, however, that you look back on fondly, one that gave you a lot for your dollar and could always be relied on to weather the storm.
