Who is Lenovo?
Lenovo Group Limited is the fourth largest global seller of PCs, based in headquarters in Morrisville, North Carolina in the US.
Lenovo is a multinational corporation which provides for business and customers in over 160 countries, employing over 21,000 across the globe.
What do they do?
Lenovo develops, manufactures and markets a variety of technology ranging from desktops, laptops and workstations to storage drives and IT management software.
The company is well known for it innovative contribution in the industry and is committed to the upkeep of this reputation.
It has research centres in China, Japan and the U.S. where scientist have produced advanced technologies throughout recent history from the original design of the “bento box” notebook in 1992 right up to the launch of the one of the world lightest notebooks, the ThinkPad X300, in 2008.
When did they start?
The company, New Technology Developer Inc. was founded in 1984 by Chairman Liu Chuanzhi along with ten other colleagues and was funded by the Chinese Academy of Sciences; its name was later changed to Legend Group.
In 2003 the Legend group began to market its products under the new name of Lenovo, taking the “Le” from Legend and “novo” from the Latin word for new.
Lenovo Group then took over IBM’s PC division in 2005, in an acquisition that saw the merging of two technology power from both East and West.
