Norton Company Guide
Who are Norton?
The Symantec Corporation was founded by Gary Hendrix in Sunnyvale, California March 1st 1982. Bought out four years later by C&E Software, they merged to become Symantec.
In 1990 they acquired Peter Norton Computing Inc. and kept on a lot of popular titles, including Norton Utilities and Norton Antivirus, continuing the popular and effective software under the Norton brand.
The company has become one of the world’s largest software companies, and employs 17,500 people in over 40 countries, specializing in internet security, backup and system management.
How have they helped?
They pioneered the Global Intelligence Network, a real-time view of emerging digital threats almost anywhere in the world: 40,000 sensors in 180 countries and over 6,20o managed security devices, means Symantec gathers malicious code data from other 120 million systems and scans more than 30 per cent of the world’s email traffic.
Constant innovation has kept Symantec on top; the research labs for example pioneered the leading market rootkit protection, and the company as a whole holds more over 500 global patents and employs over 5,000 engineers.
Who are their customers?
Customers range from consumers like you, to small businesses, up to the largest global organizations. Norton provides a comprehensive range of products for all these sectors and regularly updates them to ensure that the customer, no matter how small, always has the best service.
