Who is Roxio?
Roxio is a division of Sonic Solution and a world leading provider of digital media software which creates easy-to-use products and media services to help people manage and share their digital media.
What do they do?
Roxio specialises in software designed for CV and DVD management, from burning DVD’s to cinema quality playback on your PC.
Roxio distributes software globally and online and is bundled with the software of major machine builders such as Dell and HP.
When did they start?
Roxio began as a digital media company and was created from the spin-off of Adaptec’s Software Products Group in 2001 and the 2002 acquisition of MGI Software.
Roxio began to pursue the area of music downloads and the subscription market and subsequently acquired Pressplay and Napster. To keep the online music service going Roxio was sold to Sonic Solutions in 2003 and the rest of the company renamed Naspter, Inc.
