Mars Black Dell Inspiron 15R Laptop

Mars Black Dell Inspiron 15R Laptop

The Dell Inspiron 15R offers students embarking on a new academic year a great range of different features. You can choose from a variety of different drivers and processors – the model that we saw in the PC Site UK office performed brilliantly with an Intel Core i5 processor.

This model would also appeal to students who have a knack for gaming in their spare time. It’s got a great set of speakers which can play even the most bassy of songs with a clean, sweet air. Its graphic card is well-equipped to handle HD too, perfect for visual-rich games and home cinema.

There is a good lot to advertise the Dell Inspiron 15R. A consideration for many will be its shiny good looks, dividing it from a host of other laptops in an instant. Its backlit keyboard will also appeal to a raft of students who have already submitted to the prospect of some midnight work as exams approach.

Dell Inspiron 1545

Dell Inspiron 1545

Students looking for a solid, no frills, powerful model for the new academic year would do well to study the Dell Inspiron 1545 for a moment or two. It’s not as flash and it does not have the range of accessories as the Dell XPS range – but for a much more affordable price, with the Inspiron 1545 you won’t be doing badly.

The Inspiron 1545 is driven along by a 2.2GHz Intel processor which will allow you to run all of the top software packages quickly and extensively. A 500Gb hard drive will provide ample room for all of your latest files, music and photos and there are numerous ports which ensure the model is flexible too.

But by far the best thing about the Dell Inspiron 1545 is its price. Dell has long specialised in laptops that perform admirably without breaking the bank. For a student with a long list of outgoings, a few pounds can be saved by investing in the Dell Inspiron 1545, a worthy laptop computer.

Dell Inspiron Mini 10 Laptop

Dell Inspiron Mini 10 Laptop

More than most, students live their lives on the move. If you’re changing houses, cities, courses and so on, then you’ll appreciate the portability of a light-weight netbook computer.

The Dell Inspiron Mini 10 offers you just this. It is part of Dell’s incredibly popular netbook range and it’s the smallest model Dell offers. The result is an ultra-portable netbook that can slip neatly into a bag and be carried effortlessly between classroom and study, library and lecture hall.

The Dell Inspiron Mini 10 is defined by its size – and therefore doesn’t have either the power or the performance of full laptops. But for jotting notes, writing up essays, online browsing and all manners of social networking – it is perfect. And it’s not just its size which is diminutive – so is its price.

Dell Guides

A guide to Dell’s laptop range

A guide to Dell’s laptop range

Dell has a wide range of laptops designed for all lifestyles and uses, from family computers to gaming machines and PC Site®’s guide will help you decide which the ideal range is for you.

Inspiron laptops

For those of you looking for a netbook, this is the family to be shopping in. Inspiron mini netbooks are designed for a busy lifestyle, with their ultraportable and lightweight design. They will keep you online when you are on the go.

Inspiron laptops are perfect for general purpose computing such as emailing, browsing the Web, playing music and social networking. They range from 11-17 inch screens and all Inspiron laptops and netbooks are available in a variety of colours.

Studio laptops

Studio and Studio XPS laptops are for people who want to do a bit more with their PC. Users who wish to watch movies, play videos, edit photos, as well as the usual office work would do well with a Dell Studio laptop. If you fancy all the perks of the Studio but in a more lightweight form then the XPS is a great option. You can get a more easily portable laptop with a 13 or 16 inch screen.

Alienware laptops

If you are a gamer, there is no better laptop than one of Dell’s Alienware models. The M15x and the M17x are superior machines with extensive power and performance. They are built as desktop gaming replacements, with the latest Intel Quad processors and mind-blowing graphics. If the specs don’t tempt you then the design features will; they are made from anodized aluminium and are available in metallic silver or metallic black.

Adamo laptops

Dells Adamo and Adamo XPS are a perfect mix of sleek design and advanced technology, ideal for those of you who want a high performance laptop that you can take anywhere. The Adamo has a 13.4 inch HD display, a tiny 1.64cm thickness and an Intel Core 2 processor ensuring that it’s not just a pretty case. The XPS model is even thinner measuring just 9.99mm and has added features such as touch response and a five hour battery.

Dell System requirements

Dell System requirements

Don’t know your RAM from your elbow? Well PC Site® is here to help you work out which system will be best for your needs.

What do you need it for and how much can you spend?

Sit down, take a deep breath and think about what you really need your new machine for, and how much can you spend as these two will inform your choice.

If you’re going to be using the internet, word processing programs and streaming content of sites like BBC iPlayer then you might just want a small netbook or all-in-one desktop.  If you want to play computer games then you’ll need a faster machine with better graphics.

What do I need to know about technology?

RAM stands for Random Access Memory and, generally the more RAM the faster your computer works and the more tasks it can handle at once.

CPU stands for Central Processing Unit and is the tiny heart of your machine. More RAM needs a faster CPU and vice versa, the best on the market being quad core processors.

Hard drive refers to the amount of storage your computer has. Games, photos, videos and big programs all take up a lot of it.

If you want to play games you will need a graphics cards; faster speed (GHz) and more memory (Mb/Gb) means better game play.

What else do I need to budget for?

Most desk top computers don’t come with speakers included, and some don’t even come with a display so budget for a nice flat screen display and some crisp speakers to make the most of your computer.

Then budget for software like Microsoft Office and anti virus protection to keep your computer safe.
