Dell office networking guide
Dell is always looking to help its business customers with the expansion and organisation of their company. Here is a guide to setting up a server-based network with Dell.
Networked staff PCs
This is a network in which all staff computers use a dedicated central server computer for network functions such as storage, security and other resources.
24 hour network access
There are many benefits of a server-based network for a growing business and so Dell aims to help you get centralised. File management is a huge advantage of having a network server. It keeps all your vital data in a central shared space where all employees can access it easily.
Having a network server means that you can access your office 24/7, even from a netbook or smart phone. Servers also allow workgroups to collaborate in virtual work spaces and share schedules, and you can also grant permission fro clients to gain access to make communication more efficient.
Security is another benefit of having a liked up business network, as the entire organisation can be protected from intrusions and attacks. A well-equipped server with a high performance processor and hard drive with sufficient memory speeds up applications and file access.
Dell Network Attached Storage
Dell also offers network attached storage (NAS) which is basically a high capacity external hard drive which improves your ability to share and store files.
Dell Printers Business Guide
Before you choose the printer that’s right for your business, you need to ask yourself some basic questions, such as what kind of documents you intend to print and how often you will be required to print them.
The difference between Inkjet and Laser
Inkjet printers can print better photos and images, but laser printers print faster and cost less so are better for documents.
It’s also worthwhile checking out the other print functions just to check you can print full range of paper sizes, envelopes, labels etc. Remember that wireless printers are more flexible and easier to network
What is a printer’s duty cycle?
If the printer is going to be networked, so multiple people use it, then it will have to do more work than a personal printer; this mean you will need a model with a greater duty cycle and pages per minute ratio.
Dell all-in-one printers
For small businesses an all-in-one printer that can scan, copy, fax and print can be a great way to save space and money.
If you have the space and money then consider splitting printer tasks with a black and white laser to handle day to day document printing and a colour inkjet for special prints.
Dell printer accessories
For printers that are going to be used a lot then consider getting larger paper trays.
