HP Pavilion Slimline s5100 Desktop

HP Pavilion Slimline s5100 Desktop

During the summer of 2009 Hewlet Packard unveiled its Pavilion Slimline s5100, a powerful desktop compressed into a casing of less than half the size of previous models.

The best thing by far about this desktop is its space efficiency. Measuring at just 30cm high and 11cm wide it is much less bulky than other desktops and doesn’t lose out on any power as a result.

The pavilion s5100 uses less raw materials and so consumes a lot less power than your average desktop making it perfect for all you environmentally conscious users.

This is the ultimate streamlined PC, hence its “slimline” name. The tower only has one power cord and everything else is done internally through Bluetooth and Wi-Fi using antennas.

The HP Pavilion Multimedia PC

It is an ideal PC for multimedia programs as the ATI Radeon HD 4350 graphics card is of very high quality, though it is not powerful enough for HD movies or video games that require a lot of memory and power.

This model is perfect for inexperienced computer users with its great all-round performance and manageable size. For a relatively low price you get a stylish PC with an impressive performance and great extras like built in Wi-Fi.

HP Envy 13-1000 Notebook

HP Envy 13-1000 Notebook

It may seem small but inside its laser etched aluminum shell the HP Envy 13 Notebook there is an energy efficient Intel® processor, a unique sound system, webcam and a whole lot of software.

Extended battery life with HP Envy Notebook

One of the benefits of the Envy 13 is that is has an extended battery life of 16 hours. You simply add a Slim Fit Extended-Life notebook battery to the bottom of the machine; it’ll keep you going for more than 16 hours after a single charge.

It has a custom-made user interface, so new users need not be afraid. It also has a state of the art Beats® audio system, developed with the help of professional musicians to give you premium sound quality.

This stylish notebook may be petit but it has serious brain power; it comes with 3072Mb of memory and can support up to 5Gb DDR3 memory.

The Envy 13 does come with a lot of preloaded software which can take up a lot of memory; you may need to uninstall applications you won’t use to free up some disc space.

HP has got the perfect balance between aesthetics and performance with this model and it is ideal for someone who needs a compact PC suited to work and travel.

HP Mini 110

HP Mini 110

The new HP Mini has had a bit of a makeover and it looks all the better for it. There are some nice swirl patterns across the lid and it comes in a choice of white, pink or black.

They’ve finally put in a full VGA connection, allowing you to hook up a display without messing about with an annoying adapter, and there’s an extra USB port.

The hard drive has been upgraded to 160Gb capacity, with a faster speed of 5,400RPM against 4,200RPM. The Intel® Atom CPUs are perfect for netbooks, and with 1Gb RAM it boots quickly and can handle reasonably high demands.

HP Mini 110 – Speed is the key

HP has, however, continued their infuriating habit of putting the left and right click buttons on either side of the track-pad rather than underneath, which takes an age to get used too. There’s also no HDMI port and the Mini 110 comes pre-loaded with a lot of unnecessary software.

The only other point to note is that the edge to edge glass screen of the Mini 1000 has been replaced with an anti-glare widescreen with a bezel round the edge: More practical, though a little less stylish.

HP has built a great netbook, with good battery life, easy to use keyboard and lots of ports. There are some practical problems, but they can be overcome.

The HP Touch Smart Desktop PC Series

The HP Touch Smart Desktop PC Series

What is it?

It’s HP’s all-in-one touch screen PC. Shiny isn’t it? On its release in 2007 it became the first really mass-marketed touch screen and brought this advanced technology into the consumer range.

Why developed it?

HP was chasing was the iMac crown, high-end aspirational computers to be proud of, and TouchSmart is a serious contender for it; the design and beautiful 23 inch HD screen mean this computer will take pride of place in a room as a multimedia centre for all the family.

Why is it so special?

Well the touch screen has come a long way in two years and it’s a viable and practical method of interacting with your computer. Once you get used to it, you will be amazed at how responsive it is.

The specs are also pretty impressive there’s a 1Tb hard drive, 4Gb RAM, Intel® Core 2 Duo processor and Nvidia Ge Force 9400 graphics card.

All this hardware would be a little meaningless without the design, and HP has really pulled out all the stops.
The TouchSmart can be wall mounted, the wireless keyboard hidden away in a special bay and the mouse is wireless to make for clutter free elegance and style.

Who is it for?

People with the cash to splash who need a top of the line all-in-one that gives you the best graphic performance.
