HP Pavilion dv6-2173cl

The HP Pavilion dv6-2173cl is a laptop aimed at the business user; providing the power of a desktop in a reasonably portable package.

Rich in connectivity and features this smart laptop has a lot going for it. However, like most PCs out there, there will always have to be some element of compromise.

What I like about the HP Pavilion dv6-2173cl

The HP Pavilion dv6-2173cl has a good processor, the Intel Core 2 Duo i3, and a good NVIDIA GeForce graphics card that combine to allow for good overall multimedia performance, and even some light 3D gaming.

The good screen size and full size keyboard allow this laptop to be used as a desktop replacement. It looks nice too, with the standard HP swirl design and chrome finish on the mousepad. If you are on the move you can expect to get a respectable four hours out of the battery.

Storage capacity is adequate and it boasts a great range of ports. HDMI, VGA, Express Card Slot, 5 in 1 card reader, eSATA/USB, FireWire – new addition, 3 USBs, DVD multi drive, Headphone and Mic jacks.

What I don’t like about the HP Pavilion dv6-2173cl

Apart from the obvious lack of portability for people on the move a lot, the only drawback for the HP Pavilion dv6-2173cl is the compromise that’s been made between price and display.

Basically HP have kept the Pavilion dv6-2173cl out of the £800 – £1,000 price range by fitting it with a screen resolution of 1366×768 pixels, which, while fine for everyday computing, means that you won’t be getting the best from a visual perspective and it will not support HD.

Summary of the HP Pavilion dv6-2173cl

Overall this is great multimedia laptop that, screen resolution apart, offers a lot in the way of performance, graphics and features. Although not the cheapest laptop on the market it is by no means the most expensive.

If you are looking for a smart and powerful laptop to keep around the home or office then the Pavilion dv6-2173cl offers a good mid-range choice, especially for those of you looking to get involved in multimedia processes.
