Symantec revealed that 83.4 per cent of spam generated in 2009 was the work of Botnets, autonomous robots that are run by malicious software.

Figures were released in Symnatec Corp’s MessageLabs Intelligence Annual Report, which was conducted at the end of last year. It revealed around 151 billion unsolicited messages were being send everyday from various countries, including Brazil, Poland, China, Vietnam and the USA.
