Acer ICONIA wins Last Gadget Standing award at the 2011 CES
At this year’s Consumer Electronics Show there were many new gadgets that impressed the crowds, but none more that Acer’s new ICONIA dual touchscreen notebook. Rosie Khdir finds out why it is the Last Gadget Standing.
PC Site revealed the new Acer ICONIA dual-screen laptop in November last year, and we all predicted it would be a hit. This was proven at CES this year in Las Vegas Nevada, where it was voted “Last Gadget Standing”. The Last Gadget Standing website stated:
“The Last Gadget Standing–as determined by applause-o-meter at the event is Acer’s ICONIA, a notebook with two 14-inch screens and a touchscreen interface.”
In order to be nominated for this award, the ICONIA had to be, according to the Acer press release:
“…one that the writers and readers of prominent Internet tech news and blogger sites throughout 2010 considered the most innovative, user-friendly and able to stand the test of time.”
After sailing through to the preliminary 25 and then the final 10 the ICONIA was name the Last Gadget Standing.
Acer representatives, using a Star Trek-inspired comedy sketch, introduced the multitouch tablet, described by the manufacturer to be the “absolute touch experience”. It has two 14 inch multitouch displays, one of which turns into a full-sized virtual keyboard.
Both displays have HD 1366×68 resolution, high-brightness Acer CineCrystal LED-backlit TFT LCDs. It’s not all about sharp multitouch screens though with this notebook, it runs on an Intel Core i5 processor and comes with 4 Gb of RAM and support for up to 750 Gb hard drive.
An official UK release date is yet to be announced, but prices are expected to start around £1,499. PC Site will keep you updated when we get further information.
