Adobe’s new Creative Suite 5.5 software package includes three brand new iPad applications, expanding the company’s range of Photoshop features for the tablet.

After launching the Photoshop Express App a short while ago, Adobe has come up with a couple of new apps designed for the iPad. One of them is called Adobe Eazel, which is a drawing application that uses multitouch technology to allow users to draw pictures with their fingers and transfer the image to the Photoshop application running on their Mac or PC.

Adobe Nav turns the iPad into a kind of remote control for Photoshop running on a computer that is connected to the iPad via Wi-Fi. Users can choose which tools from the Photoshop menu bar show up on the iPad, so that the user’s preferred tools are immediately accessible and usable. Users can also select Photoshop documents remotely, via their iPad, for them to show up on their desktop display.

The final part of this app trio is Adobe Color Lava, which lets people use their iPad as a colour mixing palette and export the resulting new colours to Photoshop, making for a quicker and more intuitive mixing tool.

The launch of these first few apps is, presumably, just the first step in makng Photoshop connect to more devices than just desktops. Adobe Eazel, Color Lava and Nav Photoshop Touch will be available from the beginning of May – together with the Creative Suite 5.5. update – with prices ranging from around £1.20 to £3.
