Singer Björk to release new album as 10 iPad Apps
Rarely one to follow conventions, the Icelandic pop singer Björk will release her new album Biophilia not on CD, Vinyl or even download – but in 10 separate iPad Applications.
The applications were created by the multimedia artist Scott Snibbe, who has said that they “are all part of the same story” and thus form a cohesive art work just like conventional records. “The app is an expression of the music, the story and the idea,” Snibbe told The Guardian.
The apps will include music videos, which will probably please Björk fans – her videos are usually worth watching.
Biophilia, the singer’s seventh album, will officially be unveiled at the Manchester International Festival (MiF) at the end of this month.
A teaser for the album’s lead single “Crystalline” was released yesterday. Watch it below.
