Asus unveil Ultrabook version called Zenbook
Asus presented their new Ultrabooks to tech journalists this week. The Zenbook UX21 and UX31 will be the next tranche of Windows-using, super slim laptops after Acer unveiled their Aspire S3 Ultrabook last month.
The Asus Zenbooks come in 11.6 inch (UX21) and 13.3 inch (UX31) versions and combine a skinny feel with improved processing power. The impressively thin dimensions (3mm at its thinnest point) is a sign that other manufacturers are catching up with Apple’s MacBook Air.
The chassis comes in shiny (and, by the looks of it, easily scratchable) aluminium, and there are two USB ports, one of which supports USB 3.0.
None of the two Zenbook versions will have dedicated graphics cards, presumably to keep the weight at a minimum. Intel, the company behind the Ultrabook movement provides the CPUs in the shape of an i5-2467M for the UX21 and an i7-2677m for the UX31.
The Asus Zenbook UX21 and UX31 will be available in the UK from 21st October onwards – try your local PC World, Currys and Dixons – and will be priced at £850 and £950 respectively.
