Dell’s 5 inch Tablet ‘Streak’ over
The Dell website has announced the end of the 5 inch version of its Streak tablet. The website has an EOL “End of Life” signature in its URL, and a banner stating “It’s been a great ride.” The Streak 5 lowered the threshold on tablet size, whereas its 7 inch cousin is still selling strong the 5 inch was more contentious. It had a delayed launch in August rather than the July date that was originally set.
The issue that most people had with the 5 inch Streak was the fact that it was too large for one hand and not large enough to feel necessary to use two hands. Some also found that a 5 inch screen wasn’t large enough for their eyes to adjust to when reading or surfing.
But before you rush off to the nearest Apple store remember you can still buy the 7 inch Dell Streak, and there are also rumours of a 10 inch tablet which should throw a bit of healthy competition to the Galaxy Tab, Toshiba’s Thrive and the indomitable iPad.
