HP TouchPad tablet to arrive in the UK mid-July – price same as iPad 2
The new tablet from HP, the TouchPad, is due to be released in the UK around the middle of July. No specific release date has been given yet, but pre-orders will start next week.
The 9.7 inch tablet has been rumoured to be a genuine rival to Apple’s iPad ever since it was showcased earlier this year. We saw it ourselves at the Gadget Show Live in Birmingham last April and were pretty impressed. The HP TouchPad is HP’s first tablet that runs on webOS, the mobile operating system for tablets. It is compatible with HTML 5 and supports Flash 10.1, but will only feature Wi-Fi connectability in its first guise.
The 16Gb version of the HP TouchPad will set users back £399, while the 32Gb model is priced at £479 – the same price specifications for the 16 and 32Gb versions of the iPad 2.
Its US, France and Germany release date is 1st July, and it will hit UK shops a few weeks later. Online pre-orders will start next week, on 19th June.
