Android security threats only beginning, say Norton
The operating system Android is a soft target for malware attacks, according to a report from the internet security firm Norton.
The report states that Android is “open, ubiquitous and monetisable”, meaning it is likely to be increasingly targetted by malware attacks. The “monetisable” refers to the fact that malware creators can download apps from the Android Market, infuse some malicious code, recompile the app and resubmit it to the app store. Users who then download these infected apps will be charged premium rates for effectively damagint their own devices.
