Lenovo deny they are making a 23 inch tablet
Well, it was a fun idea while it lasted: Lenovo have quashed rumours that they are planning to release a 23 inch tablet this year.
Speculation first started at the end of last week, with various technology outlets quoting Lenovo’s senior marketing specialist William Cai, speaking at Birmingham’s Gadget Show Live.
“We think that there is potential for a 23-inch tablet”, Cai was quoted as saying, “We’d have to take care of battery life and we are working to get the weight down.
“It’s obviously not for full mobility use, but it could be moved from room to room in the house and used with a full keyboard, or as a television. Or you could lay it on a table top and use it for family games.
“We’re hoping that we can launch it later this year.”
A short while later came the correction. In an email to PCMag.com, Lenovo’s Raymond Gorman said: “It is usually not our practice to talk about unannounced products, but in this case I will tell you that we have no plans to introduce a 23-inch tablet.”
Samsung’s U300 is a PC very much in the tablet design, and supports multi-touch – just like tablets do. It also connects wirelessly to a keyboard, and its monitor is rounded and slim. A tablet like this would be interesting, to say the least, and a big tablet for boarding games might not be far off.
We’ll keep our eyes peeled.
