The Electronic Entertainment Expo has unveiled some of the rather spectacular surprises in store for XBOX Kinect owners. There are enough new releases to slap a ridiculous grin on the face of any fan.

The XBOX Kinect was one of the fastest selling electronic devices of 2010, providing a new dimension to console gaming with controller-less play now available.

The Kinect device has also been adapted for a range of purposes besides video games, most recently it has been embraced by surgeons to flick through medical scans in sterile operating theatres. We have also seen robotics take advantage of the Kinect’s features allowing you to direct automatic hoovers without having to get out of your chair. The argument that playing on a computer console is an unhealthy endeavour is losing ground with interactive play becoming a form of exercise.

Anyway, the Electronic Entertainment Expo has announced the coming of 3D people/object scanning to produce accurate avatars and integrate items into virtual reality. Microsoft has also been praised for not encrypting the Kinect, allowing prolific innovation in the device’s uses through independent developers.

Some of the game releases you should expect to see include Halo 4, a Kinect Minecraft a new Fable and Call of Duty, which with XBOX LIVE enabled will make for an excellent gaming experience. One other release which caught our eye and is sure to have fanbois squirming in their Jedi robes is Kinect Star Wars, an interactive opportunity to fight in the Clone Wars.
