Sony avoid third hack attack
A third attack on Sony’s servers, that was due to take place this weekend has apparently been averted.
After reports of another hack attack on Sony emerged on CNET UK at the end of last week, it looks like the Japanese company wised up and choked off access to its servers, fending off a potential third attack on its network. On a chat channel, a hacker wrote: “Apparently Sony saw that article because the last server that I could access is offline now…its probbaly [sic] being patched like the other servers. There goes our window.”
On Saturday, Sony had announced that they had removed the names of 2,500 people whose details had been stolen by hackers.
The hack attacks have been committed in retaliation to Sony’s handling of its PlayStation Network breach. On that occasion, millions of customers’ personal information was exposed, and the company warned that credit card details might have been stolen.
