Sony S1 and S2 tablet UK release in September?
The new Sony tablets, the S1 and S2, might be launched in the UK this September, it has emerged.
As reported on PC-Site last month, the Sony S1 and S2 will be released in Europe this autumn, with Engadget last week quoting a private note from Sony’s marketing group to reveal a release date scheduled for the end of September – for an as of yet unnamed tablet.
This unnamed tablet is very likely to be either the S1 or the S2 (or possibly both), since they were officially given a tentative autumn release date last month. The S1 is a 9.4 inch tablet with a curved back for extra grip and a Tegra 2 processing chip, while the S2 is a “clamshell” tablet with two 5.5 inch displays and dual cameras. Both of them will run on Android’s “Honeycomb” 3.0 version.
According to the note, the device will be available to buy through Sony Direct, department store John Lewis and another unconfirmed retailer.
PC-Site is attending a Sony product launch for an unnamed device next week – might we be able to catch a glimpse of these tablets? Check back next week. In the meantime, check out the creepily romantic teaser video (the first of five episodes) for the Sony S1 and S2 tablets below.
