New Toshiba Honeycomb tablet in the works
A new tablet device by Toshiba, compatible with the latest Android 3.0 Honeycomb version, is in the metaphorical pipeline, it emerged this week.
At the beginning of this week, an item appeared on the online technology retailer Newegg that had some specifications and (a hint towards a potential name) of a new nVIDIA Tegra-powered Toshiba tablet.
Because of the Model numbers under which the tablets were listed on Newegg (e.g. ANT-100), technology commentators speculated the tablet might be called ANT – which in turn might stand for Android Nvidia Tablet.
The tablets that appeared online had a 10.1 inch screen and ran on the high-powered nVIDIA Tegra 2.1 processor. There are 8 Gb, 16 Gb and 32 Gb HDD storage options, but all devices can be beefed up to provide 32 Gb extra hard drive space. A really impressive feature of the yet officially nameless Toshiba tablet is the fact that it has two very strong cameras – one front-facing 2 MP camera and one 5 MP camera facing outwards.
Prices for the three different storage options were $449.99, $499.99 and $579.99, respectively. There is no official UK release date for these tablets yet
