Adobe has just released its latest version of Technical Communication Suite – a package that lets users efficiently author and publish documents to multiple channels and devices.
This latest edition, Adobe Technical Communication Suite 3, comes with Adobe FrameMaker 10, Adobe RoboHelp 9, Adobe Captivate 5, Adobe Acrobat X Pro and Adobe Photoshop CS5.
What we like best
Adobe has expanded this software’s multichannel and multidevice publishing capabilities, meaning that you can create standards-compliant content in a variety of formats, including PDF, Adobe AIR and HTML.
One of the best features is the comprehensive support for industry standards which allows you to create compliant content in Adobe FrameMaker.
The new suite has improved workflows thanks to its collaborative PDF reviews with RoboHelp and FrameMaker which allow comment-enabled PDFs for group working.
You can also get versatile and rich media integration by adding multiformat videos, 3D objects and animations. Users can now also edit images using Adobe Photoshop CS5 without leaving Adobe FrameMaker.
What we like least
This software is great for professionals, however like many Adobe products it comes with quite a high prices tag.
It is a very comprehensive suite but unless you have over £1,800 to spare, it is not a worthy investment for an amateur or a company low on funds.
Adobe Technical Communication Suite 3 is a full set of professional tools for technical communicators, user assurance specialists and instructional designers. All of its programmes provide users with tools to author technical information including books documents and online help system, procedures and eLearning content. The only down side to this product, as with many Adobe products, is the price, but you really do pay for quality you get.
