"This is a stylish space and energy saving desktop more geared towards a light user who wishes to double it up as a mini entertainment system."
Rosie Khdir
It is slimmer, more powerful and greener than a Granny Smith; introducing the latest Apple Mac mini desktop, a PC which shows that good things definitely come in small packages.
What we like best
Let’s start from the outside and work our way in. This PC is very pleasing to the eye, it is enclosed in an aluminium unibody which is just 7.7 inches square and 1.4 inches thin. It is carved from a single solid block of aluminium using computer numerical control.
Underneath this shiny exterior lies an NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics card, a 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 8 Gb of memory, and a 320 Gb or 500 Gb hard drive.
One of my favourite features of the new Mac mini is that it comes with a new integrated power supply which means no more external power adapter and much less clutter.
What we like least
It is disappointing to see that there is no Blu-ray drive, although this feature however would have had a pretty detrimental effect on the slim body and seriously affected the system’s energy consumption so it’s easy to understand why.
The Apple Mac Mini upholds Apple’s green consciousness, it meets the Energy Star 5.0 requirements and achieves EPEAT Gold status. It is highly recyclable, uses PVC- free components and cables and contains no brominated flame retardants.
This is a stylish space and energy saving desktop more geared towards a light user who wishes to double it up as a mini entertainment system.
