"Connectivity is another big plus with the ASUS Eee PC range. You’ll have no touble accessing the Internet on the go. Getting online or using Bluetooth is made easy."
Karim Beerahee
A decent netbook on the general scale, it is a machine suited for travel obligations, or to snap open in a classroom for quick notes.
The Seashell, so named for the thin in the front, thick at the back, and roundish design, is a nice little netbook that users will find a real pleasure to use.
What we like most
The 3-cell battery can provide up to 4 hours run time on a single charge, which is very respectable. Performance wise netbooks only cater for light use, they are extremely portable and light, so for travel or classroom purposes the Seashell provides a more than adequate system.
Connectivity is another big plus with the ASUS Eee PC range. You’ll have have excellent connectivity options, getting online or using Bluetooth is made easy, and internet access is made manageable at impressive speed with WLAN 802.11b/g/n at 2.4 GHz.
What we like least
There are one or two minor cosmetic hindrances. The casing finish is a bit of an acquired taste in my opinion, but will appeal to some. And there is not enough definition about the touchpad, which makes its use a little bit unsteady.
The display is also a little hard on the eyes, ASUS have opted for the 10 inch screen with TFT and 1024 x 600 resolution, which is quite harsh on the eyes.
The 1001HA Seashell is by all means a solid choice of netbook. It comes with Windows XP, to provide a tried and true service and a strong processor with the Intel Atom N270, and a decent hard drive for a netbook.
For portability, excellent connectivity and premium functionality the 1001HA Seashell hits many of the right buttons.

This little netbook from ASUS, has been given a touch of style by designer Karim Rashid and we like very much!
The Seashell ASUS Eee is encased in a glossy pink or brown (the choice is yours) glossy bumpy skin that resembles that of a crocodile, in the true style of the eccentric designer. This netbook has got “the look”.
The 10.1 inches Eee 1008P Seashell packs a fair amount of power, with a 250Gb hard drive with a pretty standard netbook processor, the Intel Atom N450 CPU clocked at 1.66GHz and 1Gb of RAM.
Owners of the ASUS Eee 1008P Seashell can also take advantage of 500Gb of free storage available via ASUS’ WebStorage system.
The small touches are what make this netbook great for example; the ports are hidden behind flaps, to uphold the streamlined look of the machine and the battery is located inside the chassis, preventing the ugly battery bulge some laptops have at their rear!
This netbook is really for those who are looking form over function. It looks great but the battery lasts a disappointing three and half hours – not so great for a netbook.
