"The Digital Studio installs a couple of Corel’s gems including Paintshop, VideoStudio, WinDVD and DVD Factory"
Karim Beerahee
This is an entry level digital media editor. You’ll find it at the lower end of the price scale as it isn’t really a professional standard software. You get an excellent selection of tools nevertheless that are more than capable of helping you through personal projects or for a student first venturing in to movie editing it can certainly be put to good use.
What we like best
Corel Digital Studio 2010 will catalogue all your digital media, photos, movies and music so that they can be found easily with simple search categories including keywords and a rating system. The Digital Studio also installs a couple of Corel’s gems including Paintshop, VideoStudio, WinDVD and DVD Factory.
Video editing is quite a trying process, so you may want to give the free trial a quick run through before purchasing Digital Studio 2010 to ensure that your computer can run it and see whether or not the layout suits you. With this software you’ll be able to quickly compile clips into movies or compile the perfect mix tape and burn to CD or DVD.
One feature we particularly enjoyed was the integration of the Digital Studio with the Windows 7 Touch capacity. For those of you lucky enough to have an All-In-One you’ll have a more interactive experience letting you drag and drop, rotate images, enmesh and render video as well as edit music with your fingertips.
What we like least
The Corel Digital Studio 2010 does not support Blu-ray so you’ll only be able to burn to standard disks which is a bit of a letdown, but as before mentioned this isn’t industry standard software.
There are a few Corel products that combine both video and photo editing tools, for basic usage the Digital Studio is certainly value for money. If you require a little more there is an Express edition, we found the standard software pretty well rounded for starter use though.
