The Dell Vostro range is designed and geared towards the business community. They are generally well designed and robust enough to withstand the rigours of travel and heavy use.
They also come with a number of design features specific to the business user, such as finger print scanners, free fall sensors and 24/7 service options.
The Dell Vostro 3700 (V3700) is designed as a desktop replacement, meaning that it comes with all the PC power you would expect to find in a desktop and is quite large, making it less portable than many of the other Vostros in the range.
What we like best
As a desktop replacement the Dell Vostro 3700 ticks many of the boxes. Its large 17.3 inch screen has a pixel resolution of 1600 x 900, delivering an excellent picture quality that is backed up by an impressive 1 Gb of NVIDIA GeForce graphics.
The screen also has a matte finish with anti-glare so working in sunlight is not a problem.
Performance wise the Dell Vostro 3700 is quite an athlete. It comes with up to Intel Core i7 Dual Core Processors which is about as good as it gets in this price range. You can also choose up to 6 Gb RAM for an awesome all round PC performance. With these specs you can expect the Dell Vostro 3700 to handle pretty much whatever you choose to throw at it.
These are not your everyday features and when you think about the fact that the Dell Vostro 3700 is a mid-priced laptop you start to get an idea of the excellent value it represents.
Your choice of ports is very comprehensive, with 4 USB 2.0s, an eSATA combo, HDMI and VGA. You also have an integrated DVD/optical drive, Firewire, 8-in-1 media card reader and Express Card functions. This places it at the top end of the Vostro range for connectivity options.

The keyboard itself is a beautifully spaced affair with a nice backlight option and, like others in the Vostro range, is spill resistant for those late night work marathons.
The V3700 also comes with excellent video conferencing facilities. Built in 2.0 mega pixel webcam with integrated digital mic are as standard.
What we like least
While the size is a key feature, it certainly removes a lot of the portability you get from other Vostros. I would not recommend this laptop to anyone who’s planning on being mobile a lot of the time.
We also found the finger print reader to be more of a liability than an asset. Locking you out of your own system is not what it is supposed to do.
The Dell Vostro 3700 is excellent value for money. It performs amazingly well, is lightning quick and looks really stylish. For the price, this is well worth a look as you will struggle to find anything else out there that’s quite as powerful and of a similar build quality.

Dell Vostro 3700 is the big daddy of the Vostro line with a 17.3 inch screen and weighing in at 2.7 Kg this laptop is designed as a desktop replacement system, so we don’t recommend you purchasing the Dell Vostro 3700 as a mobile device. Best kept in the office or at home, you can carry it between places certainly, but in a busy commute your fellow passengers won’t enjoy sacrificing space for the mammoth Dell Vostro 3700.

Dell Vostro 3700 has some peak specs that you’d have to pay extra for on other machines, the 4 Gb RAM and up to 500 Gb storage are fairly fantastic features to have on a machine that will let you really get down to business with the Dell Vostro 3700 .
Dell Vostro 3700 boasts decent array of ports though there is no USB 3.O slot which is a shame as that particularly technology is set to be quite broadly used and is a great upgrade to the standard USB 2.0 ports native to the Dell Vostro 3700 .
