The Z Series offers the greatest range of choice available to notebook shoppers. They come in screen sizes from 13 – 15 inch depending on how compact you wish your machine to be.
Lenovo has also made a wide choice of processors, graphics and graphics cards available, allowing you to design your laptop for your own needs.
What we like best
The range of options means that you can choose the laptop which is in your price range and the features that you most desire.
The ease of upgrades means you can make your IdeaPad Blu-ray friendly should you wish.
The general look and feel of the Z Series is not to be underestimated, rather than the commonly criticised gloss look, it comes in a striking metallic finish, giving it a no nonsense yet stylish look.
The sound system is certified as Dolby Advanced, meaning that you get an above average listening experience with none of the ‘tinny’ sound that many laptops suffer from when playing loud music.
It comes complete with an ergonomic chiclet keyboard and integrated webcam, and can be built to sustain office work or entertainment media; it runs admirably with both.
What we like least
It falls short of the U Series in terms of lightness and thinness, as well as battery length.
The Z Series is designed more on the older IdeaPad forms. Ultraportable laptop shoppers should look for the U-series.
The Z Series is built more for comfort; it comes with one of the more outstanding keyboards on the market. The hybrid island-style keyboard is designed to assist with touch typing by adjusting spacing and the shape of individual keys.
The home theatre features of these laptops make them an ideal lounge partner, though it is a worthy office choice too.
Commuters wish to use netbooks, mostly for ease of travel, the Lenovo Z Series is designed more as a desktop replacement.
The Z Series is designed for added comfort and capable of providing high quality usage and easy upgrade options with state of the art components.
