"If you’ve taken a shine to the Lenovo IdeaPad Z570 then we have to congratulate you on being a person of taste."

The Lenovo Z570 has a heritage of costly ancestors, so we’re pleased our initial resoonse wasn’t a wince at the price tag of another costly business machine. To see what I’m talking about take a look at our review of the Lenovo IdeaPad Z series, namely the Z560 which was a costly yet fundamentally average machine. This laptop is in direct competition with the Dell Vostro 3550 which is marketed at a similar price with similar specs
What we like best
This laptop is in direct competition with the Dell Vostro 3550 which is marketed at a similar price with similar specs so performance wise they are very similar machines, the choice is really to be made in the design. The glossy finish that is not in the least plasticky gives the Lenovo IdeaPad Z570 a definite physical appeal; it’s a relatively slender and portable machine. The heightened spec with a Blu-ray player adds a bit of weight to the machine. You can purchase this laptop with up to 1 Tb of memory which is always impressive; in combination with the hefty 8Gb RAM the factor that could possibly effect performance is the processor. But you need have no fear there either, the Lenovo IdeaPad Z570 comes with Intel’s golden child the I5-2520M processor, this little chip has a walloping 2.5 GHz and will allow you to zip through a day’s work.
What we like least
Unfortunately this laptop only comes with a 6-cell li-ioon battery, we had high hopes for an 8-cell just to give it a bit of an edge but laptops with these batteries are ten-a-penny so don’t expect a marked improvement in battery performance. But bear in mind the i5 core is proven to raise power efficiency so the battery has a bit of a reprieve there.
The Z570’s Dell competitor has an edge in terms of ports as well, there’s no sign a USB 3.0 is growing a fast following and will certainly be of use over the coming years.
If you’ve taken a shine to the Lenovo IdeaPad Z570 then we have to congratulate you on being a person of taste. This machine has a reduced pricetag but there’s no compromise on specs and performance. As a business machine it has a surprisingly effective NVIDIA GeForce GT540M graphics card which could compliment the spacious 15.6 inch screen and blu-ray, it easily converts to an entertainment module.
