"The latest edition of the T410s is definitely one to consider if you are after a lightweight yet powerful laptop."
Rosie Khdir
The Lenovo ThinkPad T Series has had a bit of a revamp and these new models mean business.
The latest edition of the T410s is definitely one to consider if you are after a lightweight yet powerful laptop. This 14.1 inch model comes with all the top components and some great energy-saving features.
What we like best
First off, the ThinkPad T410s measures just 33.7cm by 24.1cm by 2.1cm and weighs 1.77Kg placing it in the ultraportable category.
It is compact but this model does not compromise on the comfort of the keyboard. The keys are large and there are nice touches, such as the blue coloured enter key, which makes it easier to find.
Lenovo has kept its usual dual trackpad design in this model, so users have the option of navigating with the touchpad or the trackpoint in the centre of the keyboard.
This model also comes with the optional multitouch panel that lets you interact with the latest applications with your finger tips. It support both one and two finger gestures and even has a new four-finger image manipulation tool which allows for a two-person collaboration.
The ThinkPad T410s is powered by an Intel i5-560M processor, has 2 Gb of RAM and a 250 Gb 5,400rpm hard drive and solid state drive options are also available in 80 Gb and 128 Gb capacities.
This laptop is EPEAT Gold-qualified and ENERGY STAR rated and its LED display is mercury-free. It has switchable graphics with help you control power consumption as well as an Energy Calculator to work out power savings for your system configuration.
What we like least
One problem with the T410s is that is not particularly stylish, unlike the newer ThinkPad Edge models released by Lenovo. Instead the computer manufacturer has opted for it usual simple and rather old fashioned look.
The battery life is another issue; for an ultraportable you would expect a greater battery life. Even with all the power saving features, you will be hard pushed to get a full day’s work with this machine away from a power socket.
The Lenovo ThinkPad T410s is a reliable and well-built model. It comes with all the latest specs and has some great energy saving features. It does fall down on battery life, despite these features and it is not the prettiest of models. But for a entrepreneur who is looking for a powerful lightweight machine that will get through work with no problems then this is the laptop for you.
