"Most useful for netbook users will be the email scanning and download analysis tools. Norton also provides a professional strength anti-spam filter, and there’s protection from rootkits, phishing and botnets."

Internet Security is the midrange package, between Norton 360 and Norton Antivirus. It comes with a comprehensive suite of measures to keep you safe online, but it is missing some of 360’s automatic backup and restore functions.
What we like best
Internet Security 2010 Netbook Edition, unsurprisingly is a slimmed down version of Internet Security for netbook users; simple really.
In practice this means a couple of key features on top of the normal Internet Security package. There is battery saving mode, which delays non-critical tasks until the netbook is on charge. It’s also been optimised for lower quality netbook displays, and Norton says it will handle 800 x 480 pixel and 1024 x 576 pixel resolutions
There’s also Wi-Fi connection protection to keep you safe from anyone snooping on your network when you’re out in public.
Norton’s standard parental controls allow you to control what your kids can access on the web. It’s useful because netbooks have proved especially popular with younger customers; Dell even brought out a Nickelodeon edition of its mini 10.
There are the classic Norton features which make this a popular piece of software. Most useful for netbook users will be the email scanning and download analysis tools. Norton also provides a professional strength anti-spam filter, and there’s protection from rootkits, phishing and botnets.
The small software footprint won’t take up too much of your precious netbook resources.
What we like least
For netbooks however speed is everything, and the real question is how Internet Security is going to affect the boot time and browsing speed? It does of course slow the netbook down a little more than if you were running without protection.
We also found that the firewall on this product can be a little restrictive.
Norton’s Internet Security Netbook Edition is a great package for netbook users, keeping the safe from all sorts of online threats. It fortunately does not take a huge chunk of your storage space, but can slow down the machine slightly, as would be expected with any netbook, which contains less RAM than a full-blown laptop.
