What we like best
The newest addition to this suite turns out to be one of its very best features the 3D tool. With Creator 2012 you can turn your 2D images and video into anaglyph 3D, RealD and Real 3D content; you even get a free pair of anaglyph glasses!
In terms of video and movie making, this software package has some great editing features. A shaking home video is not a problem for Creator 2012; it will have it straightened out in no time with its new advanced video editing tools.
You can also capture streaming web videos from sites such as YouTube and convert them on your PC to play on your TV or portable device.
For photo editing this package is very comprehensive. You can restore old photos but removing scratches and dust and cropping torn edges. Creator 2012 also allows you to make online PhotoShows which you can them upload to YouTube or Facebook.
In terms of audio tools, Creator 2012 includes a powerful sound editor that lets you optimise your tracks. It also has a preservation feature for old tapes and LPs, so you can digitalise you favourite songs from years gone by.
What we like least
A word of warning to budding 3D movie makers: the two-tone glasses mean that you movie cannot be viewed by a wider audience, not unless they all happen to have a pair lying around.
The 3D tool manipulate the colours of the film in order the get the effect, so make you think carefully about you colour compositions when creating the film.
Roxio’s Creator 2012 offers amateur film makers, photo editors and music producers, an affordable software package that is easy-to-use and that delivers. It is very comprehensive, offering film, audio and photo editing tools as well as a data backup and copying feature. Its new 3D addition is to be commended but is not the most advanced tool in the box.
